A car sits in the Bangkok sun all day, and when you start the air-con a stale smell arrives before the cold air does. Almost none of that comes from the seats, it comes from the air-con system. Moisture trapped in the evaporator and the ducts is where mould and bacteria grow best, and it's exactly where a cloth and an air freshener cannot reach.
Ozone solves it differently. It is a gas, so it travels everywhere air travels, into the ducts, under the seats, into the gaps no hand fits, and it oxidises odour molecules and the cell walls of the microbes producing them. The smell goes because the cause is removed, not because it has been covered with fragrance.
We run the ozone generator with the air-con set to recirculate, so the ozone is pulled through the entire system rather than just sitting in the cabin. Afterwards we ventilate the car until the air is back to normal before handing it back, and you can drive away straight away.
